The world has changed forever and there are new norms being set in the business industry as well. As we recover from the pandemic, new small businesses will start to emerge and thrive in times to come.

I will cover here 14 business ideas/niches that are thriving in the new normal and the reasons why they can prove to be a life-changing opportunity for you.

  1. Parents — Parenting is the niche to focus on as parents are experiencing challenges in their life right now that are unprecedented as kids are home all day and parents are working from home too. Working on the screen for so long, parents must be finding it difficult to keep away kids from the screen or indulge them in learning activities. There are a whole lot of businesses created to help parents in the homeschooling space and cooking space and other parenting areas. So, if you can find parents and understand their pains and problems, you can create a business around it.
  2. Content Creators — There is a whole lot of people who are using this time to consume content either through blogs or podcasts or youtube videos etc. Hence, people who are new to content creation will need help in their business in creating content in terms of editing work, brainstorming, creating focussed content, etc. A single skill of how to edit online videos and setting up channels can be a good opportunity for new business seekers.
  3. Speakers — Speakers have been hit so hard during this time. Speakers who have been used to traveling, have been hit hard. And here lies the opportunity as one can help speakers book virtual gigs, virtual conferences or help them create virtual events so that they can conduct mini-events in an online fashion.
  4. Artists — There were a whole lot of struggling artists already in the market and at this time they are suffering more. So, one can help these artists showcase their art online and reach out to a wider audience and make some extra money.
  5. Students — There are a whole lot of students who have been affected by this pandemic. Especially college students or graduates who want to create extra income. One can help them connect to software companies who are looking out for a remote workforce to get their job done. A huge opportunity lies in being a middleman and creating a win-win situation.
  6. Entertainers — The entertainers who used to go to auditoriums for the performance are now going online to build their personal brand on youtube. You can help them build their personal brand and engage them with the audience online.
  7. Health & Fitness Niche — Now this is huge. With people spending more and more time on screen and at home, indulging in sedentary activities, and eating junk food, you can bring your expertise to the game and help these people become fitter and mentally calmer.
  8. Software solutions — This is different. More and more businesses are looking for solutions in terms of software and related stuff to solve problems for their clients. You can literally just call them, understand their pain point, and connect them to a developer to make sure they get the right business solution and earn money.
  9. Membership Platforms — This is again a solution based opportunity here. During these times more and more people are craving community and connections. There lies the opportunity to build membership platforms and build human connections and guide them to solve their specific problem. You can start small through Facebook groups and then grow big through these platforms.
  10. Gardening — People are spending so much time at home and are looking for alternate ways to spend time. Gardening is one such niche that is booming right now as people are looking to set up home gardens and vegetables to have fresh food available at home. You can become the go-to person to help people start their gardens at home.
  11. E-Sports & Gaming — Kids cannot step out and play as often as they used to be. As they spend more time inside, e-gaming and sports will be the engaging content for kids to spend time at home, and make use of this opportunity might be fruitful in the short and long term. There are even opportunities in AR and VR.
  12. Brick & Mortar Businesses — There is a sharp decrease in sales of brick and mortar businesses as nobody is knocking on their doors. You can step up as a consultant/coach and help these businesses go online. This is a huge niche as maximum businesses are affected in this pandemic and you can become a go-to person for building the right strategy to help them get more sales through their product or service.
  13. Education — There is going to be a new norm in education and this niche is huge as you all know education cannot stop. From helping parents teach their kids stuff online to helping teachers understand how to connect to their kids online to helping people sell their educational courses, there is a whole lot of options in the education industry and this will make it big. Whether it is parents, teachers, colleges, you can reach out and help them solve their problems.
  14. Going Live — Helping people go-live is one of the niches to touch upon. There are many people who record videos and then upload and hesitate in going online live. You can become their go-to person to help them go live on social media platforms and help them deliver their message to the audience. If you know how that works, you can get paid to help other people.

Remember, riches are in the niches, so always focus on a particular niche, drill down, solve a specific problem, and build your business.
